Offender arrested and charged

Dear Resident,

We are aware that residents had expressed concerns following a high police presence on the Hartshead Estate early on Monday morning.

This was in relation to a suspicious male who had been seen on a resident’s driveway on St Albans Avenue before being challenged.

Response officers attended the incident, reviewed CCTV, and carried out an area search for the male. During the search, an officer located another vehicle with a smashed front window, with a brick found inside.

While enquiries were ongoing, the offender was located after discarding some property, which was later confirmed to be linked to the damaged vehicle.

The suspected offender was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and vehicle interference. He was also wanted for other offences across the GMP area.

We are pleased to confirm that James GREEN aged 32 from Rochdale has been charged with these offences and was remanded in custody and appeared at court on Tuesday. We will update you on any sentencing once we recieve it.
